We have five days left on the Kickstarter to fund the production of our next two albums. We've made our first goal, and we will have copies of the "Stories and Stone" album at Worldcon.

Our stretch goal is to fund production of a second CD during the next year, "Friend in the Dark," collecting experimental arrangements of our Norse music and many of Ada's earlier songs, which have been out of print while we concentrated on the Sundown project, performed by Ada and Lauren, performing as the duo "Sassafrass: Trickster & King."

We've started recording for "Friend in the Dark" and all completed tracks are availble streaming for free online. If we make our stretch goal of $8,606, we will give every backer who pledges at the $15 level or above an instant download of all the current finished tracks of "Friend in the Dark", and a digital download of the finished album when complete, and we will also pledge to complete the album within one year. If we don't make the stretch goal, we will still release the current tracks as a pre-order, but we will put finishing the CD project on the back burner.

So if you've already pledged or signal boosted the Kickstarter, thank you, and please keep spreading the word; we're very close to making the stretch goal!

Sassafrass will also be performing at Worldcon on Saturday at 2:30pm; the schedule says Trickster and King, but we've had a last-minute addition of another member, which means we can do trios!

We haven't really but updating on Livejournal much, but we're excited and want to share our news as widely as possible!

It's live and online! The finished "Sundown: Whispers of Ragnarok" is up on Bandcamp, so everyone can hear it streaming for free and download it too. Download codes went out to Kickstarter backers today by e-mail; if you're a backer and didn't receive your code, let us know! In addition, the physical CDs have reached the CDBaby warehouse too, and should be able to be ordered by anyone online in a few days. Also now live: downloadable DRM-free ebooks of the Libretto (with the script, lyrics, illustrations and 90 pages of mythological notes), and of the complete score of Sundown. Also live: a new digital collection of corrected sheet music of all of our non-Viking music. It's all on bandcamp, and more to follow soon!

This special track is available streaming only, and will remain online until the end of October.

Since the completion of the Kickstarter, we’ve been working hard on the CD, the DVD, and the Worldcon performance of Sundown: Whispers of Ragnarok. Things are moving forward apace on all of these fronts. And while all of that goes on behind the scenes, we also have a few pieces of news!

Many people have been asking how they can support us now that the Kickstarter is over. We now have preorders for the Sundown: Whispers of Ragnarok CD and DVD available on our Bandcamp page! So if you or someone you know missed your chance to preorder through the Kickstarter, it is still possible to secure your copy of our CD or DVD.

As LoneStarCon 3 approaches, we’re not the only ones getting excited for Ragnarok. You can check out the official LoneStarCon page on Sundown here, and the press release here. Hope to see you in San Antonio!

It'll be a while before the DVD of Sundown is ready, but here's a rough video of us singing Somebody Will at the end of the performance.

This Sunday's performance of Sundown: Whispers of Ragnarok was a huge success! Very soon, we should be updating the website and this LJ with a full report. In the meantime, we also have all kinds of exciting Kickstarter news to go with the news of the successful performance. We've passed our $10,000 stretch goal, meaning that Jo Walton's poem "Odin on the Tree" can be found here! We are also adding NEW stretch goals at every thousand dollars between $10,000 and $14,000, each of which includes a different new poem by Jo. Check out our recent Kickstarter update for the full details!

Every day that the Kickstarter continues, our fans continue to amaze us. After less than three days, we've hit our first stretch goal! With this goal reached, Ada will be adding 12 pages of additional notes to the libretto available through the Kickstarter. We will also make these notes available as a PDF to all backers who contribute $10 or more! We're opening up the subjects of the notes to backer suggestions, so please check out last night's update and comment with your ideas. Thank you all so much!
